This number rang our landline and asked for my husband by his first name only. Once speaking to him the male caller (African type accent) claimed to be from Sky and started asking questions - my husband's surname, security password, mother's maiden name etc. Unfortunately for him, my husband was not the easy touch he was obviously expected to be and the caller got no information out of him!

Pretty sure call was from Sky. Was able to verify person was from sky by asking them information about my account and login on to the online mysky portal and verifying it (correct information about how long I'd been a customer, what my package was, when my direct debit went out and how much it was discounted). Was a phone call to try and upsell products.

I went along with it as far as first and last name, once they asked for my address i said you are Sky you should know this already so I hung up. If it is genuine then i dont think they went about it the right way. If they are not, then i am happy i hung up.

In my case it genuinely was Sky calling to upgrade my TV package. I was dubious at first but he was able to confirm how long we have been a Sky customer, the amount we pay per month, which TV package we have and which TV reciever we currently use before I gave him any information. We have been upgraded to the latest Sky Q box and had our package upgraded and now pay less per month. Happy days. The man said he was from sky but did not have any idea about my deal with sky and was was pretending to offer me a package thay i already have. Also I heard noise and laughing in the background at the start of the call which felt was suspicious as usually the background noise is not heard. I felt it was a scam so declined the offer.

Claimed to be calling from Sky VIP and they were calling to review whether I was on the best package. I know I'm in the middle of my fixed term so that had alarm bells ringing. Called his bluff and told him I wasn't sure. He told me the exact numbers of years, months and days I'd been with Sky and listed the exact package I was on, but surely this info isn't too hard to come by. I wasn't going to be going through and giving any answers to security questions to somebody who called me!
