Received this number on letter from The Post Office about having to change account to another account to receive pension etc. I didn't trust it, so found out the proper phone number for the PO and called them to check. This number is legitimate for this purpose and the weird Freepost address on the envelope also correct.

Just got 1 of these for a family member. I would not reply as most envelopes have dwp on the front as far as im aware. This seems to say nothing other than customer service to send back to. Perhaps im wrong, but there is too many frauds going on, that they cant really blame you for ignoring stuff nowadays.

We have found the phone number on the letter is not the same as on previous correspondence, the same with the post code . Although the letter looks legitimate they are asking me to fill in my bank details. I have phoned the pensions office, but they were not very helpful and just said they asking people to go to the bank rather than post office for payments, but did not advise to the reason for the varying post code and phone number. I am therefore not going to respond to this request.

Second one I have had of these letters If you check numbers for DW&P the phone number on the letter 0800 085 7133 sn't one of them. The grammar is also poor.in answer to the question how the form can be returned. " You can return this form for no charge by using the envelope we'be sent you.' The text and language are not business language. The post office have an official form to complete if you want to be paid direct to your bank account.

I've had roughtly 8 or more of them. If the letter was genuine It would mention the benifit I'm recieveing, it also appears to have a word missing in the text, It says "You can post it to us using the free envelope provided" shouldn't that read "you can post it to us using the free post envelope provided" and I'm bit dubious of the address on the return envelope, it's a post handling site, would HM Goverment really use a post handling site for mail containg serious details such as bank details a

I too have just received this 'official' letter asking me to change my account from post office to a bank account. I have never had a post office account for any type of payment! The scam, for this is what it is, does look very official and is a clever way to con anyone! Please be very aware if you receive this type of letter out of the blue.

just received a letter from the DWP requesting bank details so they can pay my pension into it instead of the post office.if this is a scam, it's a b****y clever, very convincing one. it was accompanied by a letter in the same post from the post office telling me I could close my card account with them free of penalty, though it's not the type of a/c that incurs penalties. the letter even quotes my national insurance number at the top. very clever of two big organisations to hit the same postal

Beware of this as we also think it is a scam. We have asked at a Main post office and they are not aware of any changes in the way benefits or pensions are paid. also the letter I received did not state my full name as it normally does on genuine letters from DWP. and the return address post code of Wolverhampton WV99 2FJ, I checked on google maps which showed that this post code doesn't exist. VERY DODGY.

My mother got a letter from H M Gov with her national insurance number on saying her allowances were gonna be put into one account in 4 weeks. From post office to bank account. She did phone but only gave her birthdate , they ask what she receives in benefits or pension. She said she didnt know as she was confused. I received a letter so I went on gov.uk and changed it over with them on my child benefit directly instead and then sent letter back saying I have changed it over on my child benefit and that they have my permission to pay all benefits into the same account. They change it to your bank then months later i didnt get paid or sometimes less than i should, i was told i got a loan and i never, my whole claim got messed up!
